I am trained as an engineer.  Therefore I am used to making
quick provisional estimates to test whether a quantity of
interest is at least "in the ballpark".  That quick calculation
assured me of at least the plausibility of Diop's contention
that the short chronology would not accommodate the 90 kings
in question.  I quite agree that the question is an empirical
matter, ie. a matter of historical fact, and that, assuming the
data to exist, it would be quite a straightforward matter to
do the exact calculation.  I hope Diop checked.  I feel no
similar compulsion to check because I have absolutely no independent
theories to advance in this area.  However, to the detractors
of Diop, here is a matter of pure fact where you can nail him.
Was he wrong, or was he right?  I'd love to know.
