Subject: !*Update-- Call-ins for Fred Hampton, Jr.
FORWARDED MESSAGE
====================
From: "National People's Democratic Uhuru Mov't Chicago"
Urgent Call-in! Free Fred!
Menard prison officials label Uhuru Movement a "gang" and throw Fred
Hampton’s son into 6 months segregation to isolate him from the people!
On April 1, 1999, Fred Hampton Jr. was abruptly and secretly moved from
Pontiac Prison to Menard in southern Illinois. He was immediately put into
segregation for what the prison administration calls "unauthorized gang
activity" which is part of the political harassment Fred Jr. continues to
be subjected to. Menard prison is the same place his father, Black Panther
leader Fred Hampton was sent when he was framed on a bogus ice cream truck
robbery charge in 1968. When Fred Jr. first arrived, with legs and arms
shackled, he was subjected to threats by guards who were quickly moving him
through the prison. The guards kept saying "dead man walking" referring to
what is said when an inmate is being walked to the execution chamber. They
also made threatening statements to Fred Jr. referring to George Jackson,
the Black Panther member assassinated in Soledad prison by guards who
covered up his murder by saying he was trying to escape.
Fred Jr. is a Political Prisoner and Prisoner of War in the U.S. He has
been framed and imprisoned because he is the son of assassinated Black
Panther leader Fred Hampton and a leader of the Uhuru Movement which is
organizing to expose and defeat the U.S. government counterinsurgency (war)
against the African community. This counterinsurgency comes under the
guise of the "war on drugs, crime, and gangs", it’s purpose is to keep the
African community from standing up and organizing for our rights and
self-determination as we did when Fred Hampton Sr. and the Black Panther
Party walked the streets.
Only the power of the people will Free Fred Hampton’s Son and stop the
U.S. government war against our community!
