FARC-EP Communique Regarding The Recent Statement By The U.S.
State Department

The Real Terrorists

The U.S. State Department has once again called the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army (FARC-EP)
an international terrorist organisation, which is linked to drug
trafficking.
We will get straight to the point. The U.S. government is
the greatest terrorist institution of all times; which today in
Yugoslavia is killing innocent people, destroying residential
areas, bridges, roads, railways, political headquarters,
embassies, communications installations, waterways and fuel
depots with its "smart bombs"; which dropped the atomic bomb on
Japan; which supported the most brutal dictatorships in Latin
America; which has called for inhumane blockades of sovereign
nations.
When it classifies the FARC-EP in this way, it does so to
create a smoke screen in order to justify its planned military
intervention in Colombia's internal conflict. It thus puts
pressure on Latin American governments to add support to its
well-known practise of intervention, using the erroneous argument
that the FARC-EP is a threat to Colombia's neighbours.
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia is primarily a
political/military organisation, the expression of a people who
have taken up arms against an unjust regime. The FARC struggles
for a new model of society, which is based on social justice,
genuine democracy and sovereignty.
When the head of Colombia's police force, General Serrano,
endorses these statements from the U.S. State Department, he does
so with the same motive: to pave the way for U.S. intervention in
Colombia. We urge him to end his hypocrisy and explain to the
country and to the world the details of the alliance between the
police, the Cali drug cartel, the Pepes (the Carlos Castano
paramilitaries), the public attorney's office of Gustavo de
Grieff, the government of Gaviria and the DEA in their fight
against the Medellin drug cartel.
Insisting on a political solution to the serious social
problems faced by the poor peasants who grow coca, gives nobody,
except those who invent the lies, any reason to link a political
organisation with drug trafficking.
