The fifth annual anti-death penalty march and rally in Times 
Square, organized by the New York Civil Liberties Union.  The 
march will begin at Columbus Circle (W. 59th St. and Broadway) 
and proceed down Broadway to Times Square at W. 43 St. and 
Broadway, where the rally will be held.  Get the starting times

The ABOLITIONIST ACTION COMMITTEE's
6th ANNUAL FAST & VIGIL TO ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY:
June 29th to July 2nd; at the U.S. Supreme Court. 

**June 29th is the anniversary of the Furman v. Georgia decision 
in 1972, in which the U.S. Supreme Court found the death penalty 
to be arbitrary and capricious.  More than 600 condemned inmates 
had their death sentences reduced to life.  All  states were 
required to re-write their death penalty laws.

**July 2nd is the anniversary of the Gregg v. Georgia decision 
in 1976 which allowed the resumption of executions in the United 
States.

        The Annual Fast & Vigil to Abolish the Death Penalty is 
held at the U.S. Supreme Court, always from June 29th to July 2nd.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate for part
or all of this event.  FASTING IS OPTIONAL.  This is a great
opportunity to meet other abolitionists and to re-charge your
batteries while honing your tabling skills.  If you come for
the entire Fast & Vigil, please plan to arrive in Washington,
DC prior to 7pm on the June 28th, and depart after 1am on
July 3rd.  For details on lodging, travel and other logistics,
to help with funding, or to volunteer, please contact the 
Abolitionist Action Committee (AAC).  

        Please inquire/inform the AAC about solidarity fasts
and events.

January 17th is ANNIVERSARY OF THE RESUMPTION OF EXECUTIONS 
IN THE U.S. with the 1977 assisted suicide in Utah of Gary 
Gilmore in retribution for his murdering Ben Bushnell and 
Max Jenson.

March 1st is INTERNATIONAL DEATH PENALTY ABOLITION
DAY; the anniversary of Michigan becoming the first English
Speaking territory in the world to abolish the death penalty, 
in 1847.  An excellent day for public action, contact CUADP 
for suggestions and a DP Abolition Day Action-Pak.

ANNUAL FAST & VIGIL TO ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY:
